Fall Programs 2021

The Rhode Island Children's Book Award Challenge begins in September and ends March 12, 2022. It is for kids in grades 3-5 to read at least 3 of the nominated books to vote for their favorite in February. Kids who complete the challenge can come into the library to get a prize!
2022 RI Latino Books Award
Kids and teens should read at least three titles on the lists, according to their grade
level, before voting online for their favorite choice. Voting opens April 1st!
The deadline to vote is May 29. The winners will be announced on May 31.
Toddler Story Class
Wednesdays @ 10:30am
September 22 – December 15
Toddlers aged 2-3 years old with their adult caregivers are invited to the library auditorium for stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft to share social reading and fun! No registration needed. Masks are required.
Preschool Story Class
Thursdays @ 10:30am
September 23 – December 15 (no class November 11 and November 25)
Join us for stories, music, and a fun craft at the Pawtucket Public library. Preschoolers ages 3-5 with an adult caregiver are invited. Younger siblings are always welcome! Masks are required.
Bilingual Story Class
Every other Saturday @ 10:30am
A bilingual story class FREE for children ages 3 to 6. Fun stories, simple crafts, and sing along songs in English and Spanish the whole family will enjoy. Registration encouraged, but not necessary. Masks are required.
Cuentos bilingües GRATIS para niños de 3 a 6 años. Cuentos divertidos, artesanía y canciones en inglés y español algo que todos en la familia pueden disfrutar. Registración es recomendado, pero no es necesario. Se requieren mascaras.
Read to Tinker Bell & Wendy
September 21 – December 14
Need practice reading? Do you like reading to dogs? Tinker Bell & Wendy will be here Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:00pm. Reading sessions are 15 minutes each. Sign up for a session or just come hang out and see if Tinker Bell & Wendy have any free time. Sing up in the Children's Department or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Masks are required.
Have you ever wanted to make an animation? Or maybe your very own tv show? Now is your chance!!! The Pawtucket Public Library now has 2 brand new Gif-O-Grafs: an all-in-one cut paper animation machine! Local artist Walker Mettling and Gif-O-Graf inventor Sam Shorr will be here every Thursday evening for an exclusive animation workshop. Design your characters, come up with a story, and learn how to bring it all to life using the Gif-O-Graf. Ages 5+. Masks are required.
Hispanic Heritage Month Drop-in Class
Saturday, September 25 @ 2-3:30pm
Children and their families are invited to the children's library to make a piñata in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Best for children ages 5 and up, but younger siblings are welcome with caregiver help. FREE-all materials are provided. No registration necessary. Mask are required.

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo
Take the book home, read it on your own or with someone. Come to the Book Club for Kids program to share your favorite parts of the book and participate in activities related to the book. Best for kids in grades 3-5, but all kid readers are welcome. The first 10 kids to sign up will receive a FREE copy of the book. Additional readers can check out a library copy. Pick up the book in the Children’s Library. Masks are required.
Crafty Kids Club Take & Make
A new craft every week! Come to the Children’s Library to get a “Take & Make” Craft Kit. The kit includes everything to make the project at home (exceptions: glue, scissors, crayons, markers.)
Children’s Halloween Party
Saturday, October 23
Come dressed in your costume to enjoy a magic show with Mr. Ed, craft, snacks, parade and music for fun dancing with your friends. Free! No registration necessary. Masks are required.
Halloween Family Movie Night
Wednesday October 27 @ 6:00pm
Join us for a special Halloween movie night just for families. This month we are watching The Addams Family (2019). The eccentrically macabre family moves to a bland suburb where Wednesday Addams' friendship with the daughter of a hostile and conformist local reality show host exacerbates conflict between the families.
Rated PG. Runtime: 1 hour, 26 minutes. Masks are required.
Saturday, October 30
Children and their families are invited to come to the library and decorate their own pumpkin! Let your creativity go wild and use all sorts of decorations to decorate your pumpkin any way you want. Each participant will get to take home their creation. Masks are required.
Spooky Scavenger Hunt
During the month of October
Ten spooky Halloween pictures will be hiding throughout the library during the month of October. Start by picking up a clue sheet from the desk. Complete the scavenger hunt and win a prize!
